9-2-06 Meeting of the Membership

The meeting was called to order by President Steve Hemping.

Minutes from May 27, 2006 meeting were presented by Secretary Gayle Teskey.

Old Business:

Water Quality Report – Barry Borman

	“Year of the Weed” – clear and warm water
	Water level down 1.2 feet
	Low water predicted again next year

Membership update – Gayle Teskey

Summer dues reminder letter resulted in 40 additional paid members (12 new, 10 “salvaged”, 18 renewed), up to 90 paid members.

Website update – Tom Schneiberg

	Site is being expanded to include additional information, a “join” form, links.

Update on No-Wake Zone – Steve Hemping

	No wake issue is tabled for now at Jackson Township. Both Scott and Jackson have to pass an ordinance, and so nothing is likely to occur until summer 2007.
	(Lakeshore owner Karl Aulciems presented his background reason (safety) for placing his swim platform and swimming area).
	Tom Schneiberg – made a motion that we take a vote: “The board is charged with representing the members, and our role is to report on the desires of the members. Therefore, we will take a vote of how many members are in favor of identifying the no-wake area with the use of buoys.”

Update of 4^th of July Boat Parade & Ice Cream Social/ Next Year’s Dates

New Business:

Boat Landing Run-Off Issue/Scott Township Project – Mick Peterson

BILA will be working with Scott Township to reduce run-off through planting and other solutions.

Invasive Aquatic Plant Life/Purple Loosestrife – Tom Schneiberg and Barry Borman

Presentation will be on the website

DNR, State, other handouts were available for lakeshore owners, and a list of helpful publications will be on the website.
