INVASIVE SPECIES PILOT PROGRAM

08/25/2007:  Barry Borman, Chairman of the Birch Island Lake Water Quality Committee has been informed that Birch Island Lake has been selected as one of four Burnett County lakes to participate in a new "Invasive Species Pilot Program" due to its active work in water quality monitoring and control.

 The Water Quality Committee in cooperation with the DNR and LWCO will monitor the following nine species:

Flora
 1.     Eurasian Water-milfoil
 2.     Curly – leaf pondweed
 3.     Purple Loosestrife

 Fauna
